Chapitre: 1 2 3 4 5

Kaori was once again the first to wake up in the morning. Opening her eyes, she noticed Ryo’s arms around her body. Panic hit her hard for a few seconds, but then sweet memories of that remarkable night began to take shape in her mind, a gentle smile curving her lips.

The wonderful sensations filled her hear again, but now, thinking clearly the whole experience seemed utterly outstanding, almost surreal. Especially Ryo’s behavior. His words, his deeds, the tenderness of his embarrassment, the passion he evoked in her.

Lost in thought, she failed to notice he woke up, watching her. When her eyes met his black gaze, so full of love and tenderness, she finally grasped the meaning of everything that transpired between them, and out her arms around him.

»Good morning,« he said.

»Hi,« she dropped a light kiss on his lips. (A.N.: try to kiss someone first thing in the morning and tell me if it’s really this nice)

»Slept well?«

»For all you let me sleep…« she answered.

»Well… we had a lot of time to compensate for and it didn’t look like you weren’t enjoying it.«

»Well, no, but to make amends for seven years all in one night. Don’t you think that was a bit excessive?« she rebuked.

»Get ready, then, for this is nothing compared to what awaits you when we get home,« he said, dropping butterfly kisses on her face.

She laughed, stopping him with tears in her eyes.

After another half hour of cuddling and tender caresses, they descended for breakfast and another visit to the beach. Only two more days at the paradise remained, before they would have to return to their daily routine in Tokyo.

The beach was quite crowded and they had to literally sweat to find a good enough spot in the shade.

Kaori laid on the towel, while Ryo went for a swim. Shortly after diving in, he noticed two men hitting on Kaori. She, on the other hand, didn’t seem eager to send them away.

“Look at those two. With all the girls around here, they had to pick mine. Plus, she doesn’t stop yaking… now I’m really pissed,” he thought, leaving the water.

»Excuse me, but what do you want with my girl?«

The two men turned. »Huh? We’re old pals of Kaori’s.«

»Yes, Ryo, we went to High School together,« she explained.

»Oh… I’m Ryo Saeba,« he introduced himself, sitting beside Kaori.

The three friends started talking of the great old days, while Ryo sent killer gazes at the two men, who, noticing his hostility, decided to leave.

»Ryo! What’s wrong with you?«

»Nothing. Why?«

»Don’t play coy with me,« she chided.

»Oh, absolutely nothing’s wrong!«

»Hell no, you’re acting like you left some kind of brand of ownership on me! I’m not a thing, I’m a person,« she stated.

»I know, but I can’t help it if I’m jealous. You have no idea what you do to me and I hate other guys looking at you,« he confessed.

»Ryo, you’re so silly! You know perfectly well I’m not interested in others!« She caressed his cheek.

Ryo calmed down. Just a bit, though. She was right, but the thought of losing her was always lurking in his mind.

Like she was reading his thoughts, she said: »I won’t ever leave you, remember that. Nothing and no one will make me go away.«

The day went happily bye with Ryo trying many times to persuade Kaori to go back to bed, but she kept refusing. He gave up, thinking the night shall be very long indeed. (A.N.: always with these gentlemanly thoughts…)

Last day came and Ryo kept banging his head against the wall trying to think of a surprise for Kaori. Ryo's strange behavior, but decided not to press. Ryo disappeared the entire afternoon, making her extremely suspicious, but she definitely didn’t want to think about what he was up to.

Around seven she retired to her room, finding a box, tied with a red ribbon, on the bed. There was a note with a simple ‘R’ on it. Her heart racing, she slowly opened the package and her breath hitched in her throat. Inside there was a magnificent red, ankle length dress, with straps crossing over the back. Her hands shaking, she slipped it on, admiring herself in the mirror.

The phone’s ringing interrupted her. It was the concierge, informing her Ryo will be waiting for her in the banquet room by eight.

Excited she took the dress off, running to the shower. Drying her skin, she slipped the dress back on and added a touch of make-up. She wanted to be perfect.

She slowly opened the door, but the hall seemed empty. In the middle there was a table, illuminated by two candles. Taking a step forward, she heard soft music fill up the room.

Look in to my eyes,

You will see what you mean to me.

Search your heart, search your soul,

And when you find me there you’ll search no more.

Don’t tell me, it’s not worth trying for…

You can’t tell me, it’s not worth dying for…

You know it’s true….everything I do, I do it for you.

Brian Adams’ voice echoed softly and those words touched something in her heart.

Look into your heart, you will find,

There’s nothing left to hide…

So take me as I am, take my life,

I will give it all I will sacrifice.

Don’t tell me, it’s not worth fighting for…

I can’t help it, there’s nothing I want more…

You know it’s true, everything I do, I do it for you…….oh yeah!

Ryo appeared in front of her and, bowing, asked her to dance. They started swaying to the sound of the piano, echoing in the room, looking deep in each other’s eyes.

There’s no love, like your love,

And no other could give more love.

There’s nowhere, I could ask loving,

All the time, all the way….ay!

Oh you can’t tell me, it’s not worth trying for…

I can’t help it there’s nothing I want more.

Yeah I would fight for you, I’d lie for you

Walk the wire fore you, yeah I’d die for you…

You know it’s true, everything I do, …..OH….I do it for you.

(A.N.: it’s “Everything I do I do it for you”)

The song ended, but the two remained in each other’s arms.

»Ryo, I’m so happy,« Kaori whispered.

»I’m glad you liked my surprise.«

»Thank you. I never dreamed you could do something like that.«

»Hey, that’s not very nice!« he took offense.

»I was kidding. I know you can be really sweet when you put your mind to it.« She caressed his lips with a light kiss.

»All right. How about dinner?« Ryo pointed at the table.

»Gladly.«

The dinner was absolutely perfect and at the end of it Kaori was drunk. Not because of the champagne, but of Ryo’s tenderness.

»What would you like to do now?« he asked.

»I don’t know. Isn’t there anything in your program?«

»I’d have an idea…« Ryo lifted her bodily off the chair.

»Where are you taking me?« she asked, breathing in the scent of his skin.

»I’ll never tell.«

He took her to the beach, where a tiny tent with soft cushions, surrounded by dozens of candles, awaited them.

»Here we are,« he said, putting her on her feet.

»But… did you do all this?«

»Modestly speaking, yes.«

»It’s gorgeous!« She circled him with her arms and he kissed her tenderly.

They entered the tent… (A.N.: I’ll leave to the reader think of what happened next!)

They woke up before dawn, watching the sun rise from the sea. With heavy hearts they returned to the hotel to pack, waiting for the taxi to take them to the airport.

Strangely, Ryo refused the sleeping pills, preferring to travel awake. Kaori was a bit worried, but he reassured her, holding her hand throughout the flight.

Kaori was happy to finally be home, but also apprehensive that Ryo might revert to his old ways. She didn’t mention anything and proposed they visit their friends at Cat’s Eye,

As soon as they stepped over the threshold, Miki threw her arms around Kaori’s neck like she haven’t seen her in a lifetime and noticed a change in her friend.

»Are you hiding something?« she asked.

»Nope…« Kaori answered.

»Don’t lie to me. I can see it in your eyes something’s different. Don’t tell me that you and Ryo…«

Miki never finished the sentence for Ryo interrupted her: »Miki, are you referring to me and Kaori finally being together?«

»See, I knew it! You could have called!« she turned to Kaori.

The girl didn’t answer and blushed furiously, but Ryo took her in his arms, kissing her in front of everybody.

Now she was sure. Nothing would ever be as before. A new life stretched in front of them. Together. Forever.
