18 years earlier, Tokyo  

Kaori ran down the stairs of the apartment, tears running down her cheeks.  

“ You’re an idiot, Ryo, an imbecile, an egoist, a pervert, a … “  

With each step she took she insulted her partner. With slowing down she took her vest and left the building, slamming the door behind her. She walked towards the Cat’s Eyes café while still insulting Ryo. The people on the street looked at her with big eyes but quickly resumed their walk when they saw her look.  

“ Oh, oh” said Falcon  

“ What?” asked his wife.  

“ I can sense Kaori’s fury and is still two blocs away”  

“ Oh no. You think that…”  

“ Who else?”  

“ When is he going …”  

“ I don’t know but I can tell you she’s going to need both a very strong coffee and you”  

“ And the day started so beautifully” sighted Miki.  

Kaori came in the café. Her back was straight, her hands clamped into fists and her look deadly. Before she could say anything Falcon gave her a cup of black coffee, extra strong. She took the cup and drank it in one go before handing it back to him.  

“ Thank you. I needed that.”  

“ What has he done that I can sense you coming from two blocks away?”  

“ Grrrrrrr … When I went to wake him up this morning I found him in the arms of two women…”  

“ TWO women?”  

“ … and cross-dressers at that.”  

“ Cross… dressers? Are you sure Kaori ?” asked Miki surprised.  

“ Seen how they were ‘equipped’ I don’t know what else they could have been”.  

“ Wait are you saying that they… that they were naked ?”  

“ Ryo too”  

“ I can’t believe it !”  

“ And when he woke up at my scream he looked oh so surprised to find those ‘women’ in his bed and kept claiming his innocence.”  

“ I understand your anger now. You know what?”  

“What?”  

“You should revenge yourself and I don’t mean hitting him on the head”  

“ Then how?”  

“ Leave him for a while. No longer having you at his side should remind him all he owes you. »  

“You think so?”  

“I agree with Miki, Kaori. There are limits one shouldn’t cross, and he just did.”  

“ Falcon …”  

“Why don’t you take this opportunity to go visit your sister for a few weeks? It’s been years since you two saw each other. It will be like killing two birds with one stone.”  

“It’s true it has been a long time…”  

“This way you take your revenge on Ryo, you have a holiday to relax and you get to see your sister. Believe me I think it’s a great plan. Besides if I remember correctly there is a flight leaving this afternoon.”  

“ This afternoon? But nothing is ready !”  

“ Don’t worry. I’ll lend you some things and the rest you can buy in New-York. Let me take a few things and I’ll drive you to the airport in time for your flight. Alright?”  

“Thank you Miki. I accept”.

The afternoon had just begun when Ryo entered the café.  

“Hi there billiard ball. Hé? Are you alone today? The beautiful Miki is not here ? What a pity, I’ll have to stay all alone with Mister Baldy for company.”  

“Ryo?”  

‘’ Hummm ?’’  

‘What did you do to Kaori to upset her so?“  

“I didn’t do …”  

The dish Falcon was drying shattered in his hands.  

« I won’t repeat myself, Ryo. What did you do that I could sense her anger from two blocks away?”  

“I keep telling you I didn’t do anything. I can’t remember. I went to have a drink last night and when I woke up there was those two ‘things’ sleeping next to me. By the way have you seen Kaori? She left without making any breakfast and I’m starving.”  

“ You won’t find her. She left.”  

“What do you mean she left?”  

“Roght now she should be at the airport taking her flight to New-York.”  

“What? She left just like that? Without telling me anything ? »  

“Did you really think she would forgive you after what happened? If you did you really don’t deserve her.”  

“When will she be back?”  

“I don’t know. She’s visiting her Sayuri and she didn’t say when she thought she’d be back.”  

“Hmmmm. But that means… That means I can go find the ladies ! Youpiii ! Wait for me girls, I’m comiiiiing, it’s your handsome Ryoooooooooooooo !”  

Falcon sighted and wished all the luck to Kaori.  

An hour later Miki came home and told him Kaori had left without a problem.  

“And Ryo?”  

“He came by. I told him she was gone. »  

“How did he take it?”  

“He began running after the first pretty woman that passed the café.”  

“He’s discouraging…”  

“Humpf.”  

“Falcon?”  

“Yes?”  

“Promise me you’ll never become like him.”  

“What! What do you take me for? I’m… »  

He immediately understood Miki was teasing him and that he had taken the bait. Was he lucky she was his wife and not his enemy!
